
Traditional Indonesian Cheese Sticks This delicious, crunchy, savory snack is incredibly addictive. You definitely can’t stop at just one or two. Non-spicy but full of flavor, these cheese sticks are made with very few ingredients. They’re perfect for enjoying while reading or watching Netflix or even with a glass of wine. A bit of patience is required while frying, as these must be cooked at a low temperature. Do try this simple recipe! Ingredients
- – 2 whole eggs (about 120 grams)
- – 80 grams grated cheese (Kraft cheddar recommended)
- – 40 grams margarine
- – 1/2 teaspoon salt
- – 250 grams tapioca flour
– Oil for frying Instructions
**Blend Wet Ingredients:**
– In a blender, combine the eggs, grated cheese, margarine, and salt.
- – Blend until well mixed.
- **Prepare Dough:**
– In a deep bowl, add the tapioca flour.
- – Pour in the blended egg mixture.
- – Mix gently with a spatula until it starts to come together.
– Knead lightly with your hands until you have a smooth dough.
- **Shape and Fry:**
- – Take a wok and fill it up to 1/3 with oil.
– DO NOT HEAT the oil yet. – Pinch off small bits of dough and shape them into sticks, making the edges slightly thinner than the middle.
- – Place the sticks into the cold oil.
- – Fry in two batches if necessary.
– Turn on the heat to low. – Do not stir until the sticks start to puff up and rise.
- – Stir continuously until they turn pale gold.
- – Remove and drain on paper towels.
- **For the Second Batch:**
