
AYAM DRAKOR AKA DRAKOR CHICKEN. Korean fried chicken DRAKOR IS THE SHORT FORM FOR DRAMA KOREA. “Chicken Drakor” likely refers to the phenomenon where people enjoy eating fried chicken while watching *Drakor*, which is a Indonesian slang term for *K-drama* or Korean dramas. The combination of these two has become a popular cultural trend in many countries, especially in South Korea and Indonesia , where people often indulge in fried chicken as a snack or meal while watching their favorite Korean dramas. Mostly, chicken wings are used to make this. And sometimes served with rice to make a Drakor rice bowl. Chicken is slightly sweet, spicy and tangy. Chicken is first fried, then cooked with various sauces, all pantry friendly. Do try this easy and tasty chicken recipe. I have served it 2 ways, with rice and noodles. 1st step. Clean and wash about 400 gms of Chicken wings. ( I used wingette and drumette ) the pointy I used to make chicken stock.
Marinate in
- 1 tbsp soya sauce
- 2 tbsps oyster sauce
- 3 grated cloves of garlic
- 1 tsp black pepper powder
- 2 inches of ginger… Grated
- Salt to taste.
Mix well and keep refrigerated for 1 hour.
2nd step..
- Add 1 beaten egg to the marinated chicken.
- Now make the following mix.
- 80 gms APF
- 20 gms cornflour
- 30 gms milk powder
- 1/2 tsp black pepper powder.
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp msg.
Mix the flour mix and chicken using just the bowl to toss it up and down.. Don’t use your hand. Make sure chicken pieces are well coated with flour mix.
Deep fry the chicken. 3rd and final step.. Meantime make the sauce.
- Heat 2 tbsps butter in a pan..
- Add 4 cloves of finely chopped garlic.
- Add 2 heaped tbsps of chilli sauce.
- Add 2 tbsps of gochujang… Optional.
- Add 1 tbsp of tomato sauce
- Add 1 tbsp of oyster sauce.
- Add the fried chicken and mix well.
- Now add 2 tbsps of honey.
Shut the fire. And sprinkle toasted sesame seeds and finely chopped spring onions. End with a healthy squeeze of lime. Eat as is.. Or with a steaming hot bowl of jasmine rice.
#adding milk powder to the flour mix, results in a more tender chicken.
